Conversational Arabic: Eating outside (30th November, 2013)

In the name of Allah

Assalamu aleikum wa rahmatullahi wa barakatuhu

 الخُروجْ لِتَناوُلِ الطّعامْ  

Eating Out 

alkhurouj letanawule atta'am

 ----------------

 

أَيْنَ يوجَدْ هُنا مَطْعَمْ جَيِّدْ؟

  Where is there a good restaurant?

      ayna yujad huna mata'am jayyid?

 

أَيْنَ يوجَدْ هُنا مَطْعَمْ شَعْبيّ؟

 Where is there a popular (typical)  restaurant?

      ayna yujad huna mata'am sha'bi?

أَيْنَ يوجَدْ هُنا مَطْعَمْ مُعْتَدِلْ الأَسْعارْ؟ 

 Where is there a moderately-priced restaurant?

  ayna yujad huna mata'am mu'tadil alasa'ar?

 

 

أَيْنَ أَسْتَطيع تَناوُلْ طَعام رَخيصْ/جَيِّدْ في مَكان قَريبْ مِنْ هُنا؟

 Where is it possible to get cheap/good food nearby?

 Ayna astati' tanawul ta'am rakhees/jayyid  fi makan qarib min huna?

 

في المَطْعَمْ... At the Restaurant…  fil mata'am 

The customer may ask the following questions at the restaurant:

لَوْ سَمَحْتْ احْجِزْ لَنا طاوِلَةً لِأَرْبَعَةْ أَشْخاصْ هذا المَساءْ.

Please reserve a table for four people for this evening.

Law samaht ehjez lana tawelatan learba'at ashkhas hatha almasa'.

 

إلى مَتى يَسْتَمِرّ تَقْديم الطَّعامْ عِنْدَكُمْ؟

Until when do you serve food?

Ela ma.ta yas.ta.mer taq.deem atta.'am in.da.kom?

هَلْ هَذِهِ الطّاوِلَة غَيْرْ مَحْجوزَة؟ 

Is this table free?  Hal hathehe attawela ghayr mahjouza

هَلْ هَذِهِ الكُرْسي غَيْرْ مَحْجوزَة؟

Is this seat free? Hal hathehe alkursi ghayr mahjouza

لَوْ سَمَحْتْ أُريدُ طاوِلَة لِشَخْصَيْنْ/ثَلاثَةْ أَشْخاصْ.

 

A table for two/three people please.

Law samaht uridu tawelatan leshakhsayn/thalathat ashkhas.

 

لَوْ سَمَحْتْ, أَيْنَ التّواليتْ؟

Where is the toilet, please?

Law samaht aynat twalet?

الطَّلَبْOrdering  

ماذا تَنْصَحُني؟

What do you recommend?

Matha tansahuni?

هَلْ لَدَيْكُمْ وَجَباتْ بِدونْ لُحومْ؟

Do you have vegetarian dishes?

Hal ladaykom wajabat bedoun luhoum?

 

هَلْ يوجَدْ لَدَيْكُمْ وَجَباتْ لِلْأَطْفالْ؟

Are there children's portions?

Hal youjad ladaykom wajabat lelatfal?
